As a proud resident of Luton, my journey (to date) has been full of diverse cultures and varied experiences. Raised in a family reflecting a blend of white British, Guyanese, and Portuguese heritage, I learned early on the value of embracing differences and cherishing the beauty of cultural diversity. Guided by the wisdom of my Guyanese grandmother, and the resilience of my mixed-race father, I have come to appreciate that success lies not in the colour of one's skin but in the content of their character.
My educational journey (rooted in the vibrant community of Luton), saw me attend Putteridge High School and pursue further studies in health and social care at Barnfield College. Inspired by my grandmother's compassionate nature, I embarked on a fulfilling career as a Care Assistant, nurturing a deep-seated desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
However, life had its surprises in store for me, and motherhood beckoned at the tender age of nineteen, catapulting me into the realm of single parenthood. This unexpected twist in my journey instilled in me a newfound sense of resilience, love, and determination to create a brighter future for both myself and my child.
Navigating the responsibilities of a young mother fuelled my ambition for personal and professional growth. Seeking opportunities for career advancement, I explored roles as an apprentice teaching Assistant, delving into the realm of education while honing my interpersonal and organisational skills.
Fate led me to the doorstep of a Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship within Luton Rising, a local council-affiliated company. Here, (amidst the hustle and bustle of London Luton Airport), I found myself embarking on a journey of discovery and growth, contributing to the heartbeat of my hometown while embracing new challenges and acquiring invaluable skills.
My experiences as an apprentice Teaching Assistant and a Care Assistant have endowed me with a unique blend of empathy, communication, and organisational prowess, which I now bring to my role as an apprentice Business Administrator. Each day presents an opportunity to adapt and evolve, as I navigate the dynamic landscape of Business Support, leveraging my diverse skill set to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Working within the Business Support Team at Luton Council for London Luton Airport Ltd has been nothing short of transformative. Here, diversity is celebrated, and inclusivity thrives, fostering a collaborative environment where every voice is heard and valued. From the intricate web of administrative tasks to the seamless coordination of operations across departments, I have witnessed first-hand the pivotal role our team plays in ensuring the smooth functioning of the airport.
In conclusion, my journey as a member of the Business Support Team is a testament to the transformative power of diversity, resilience, and growth. Guided by the lessons of my upbringing and fuelled by a passion for excellence, I embrace each day as an opportunity to learn, evolve, and contribute to the extensive Business Support community.
