Lily Shippen | Lily Shippen Celebrates 1 Year in Manchester

In October 2017, we expanded Lily Shippen into the Manchester recruitment market and have hit the ground running. As it has now been just over a year, we felt it appropriate to recognise the progress we have made and the impact we are having within PA and Secretarial recruitment in Manchester.

Two new staff have joined the team; Emma Hulbert in April, followed by Charlotte McIntyre in July. Emma began with us as Candidate Manager and Team Support. This is a highly important role with us as we recognise the importance of meeting our candidates prior to referrals and recommendations. This ensures we have a good knowledge of the candidates’ skills and wants so we can positively match them with the right client. Since joining the team, Emma has been promoted to Recruitment Consultant, now looking after clients in legal, finance, insurance, and consultancy. While Emma continues to meet with all of the candidates she works with, we will be hiring in the new year for her replacement.

Charlotte has brought three years of secretarial recruitment with her, now operating on a hybrid desk as a Senior Consultant. This means she finds both temporary and permanent staffing solutions. With a clear passion for the market, she has built strong relationships with her candidates and clients in technology, education, property, and media.

As we are quickly expanding, our office space keeps changing too. In May, we moved into our new offices in St Peter’s Square, in the heart of Manchester. This operates as an excellent central place to meet clients and candidates, as well as being a great place to work. We have already outgrown this space, moving into a new office within the building to cope with the rapid growth of the team. Since opening the Manchester offices, we have given out over £2000 worth of Selfridges referral vouchers, a testament to the fact that referrals continue to be our highest generator of revenue.

The impact we are having in the Manchester recruitment market is being widely recognised too, receiving a number of nominations for awards. On Thursday 6th December, The Talk of Manchester Awards take place, for which we have been shortlisted for ‘Best Recruitment Company’ and ‘Best Newcomer’. Lily, herself, has also been shortlisted for ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ in the Manchester Young Talent Awards.

As well as being recognised for our work, we feel it’s important to recognise others too, which is why we are sponsoring the Manchester PA Awards, hosted by the Manchester PA Network. Taking place on 1st November, these awards seek to celebrate professionals who have exceeded expectations and exemplify hard work, dedication and passion within their roles. In September, Lily took part in the judging panel, meeting some truly inspirational people from various industries.

Above all, its important to appreciate the amazing people we have placed into some fantastic companies. We are proud to work with these people and look forward to what’s to come in our next year.
