How AI is Shaping Our Professional Journey?

Change is always with us in the world of admin assistance. Over the years, we've seen many technologies come and go. The internet, the shift from letters to emails, and saying goodbye to typewriters and faxes have all pushed us forward. Now, AI is stepping up!

AI is a game changer. Exciting? Absolutely. I see it as a dynamic duo, blending AI with our human touch, judgement, and emotional intelligence, which is opening up new possibilities for us. So, how is AI shaping our careers?

Well… with AI-powered tools like Grammarly and Microsoft Editor, we can process, analyse, and interpret vast amounts of information. For instance, these tools assist us in drafting emails by suggesting more concise wording and correcting grammar, which saves time and ensures clarity. When it comes to managing meetings, tools like Otter.ai or Claap help by transcribing meetings in real-time, allowing us to focus on the discussion instead of furiously taking notes. After the meeting, these tools can generate actionable minutes, ensuring nothing is missed.

Whether organising travel plans with TripIt, iPlan AI, or ChatGPT, or managing routine tasks using Trello’s AI features, AI is transforming the way we work.

TripIt, for example, scans your email for booking confirmations and creates a comprehensive itinerary. iPlan AI uses artificial intelligence to optimise travel schedules, suggest the best flight and hotel options based on user preferences, and provide real-time updates on delays or cancellations. ChatGPT can help with travel planning by answering questions, suggesting destinations, or offering personalised travel advice. For task management, Trello uses AI to suggest task deadlines or automatically move task cards between different lists or stages of a project based on predefined rules. Copilot and ChatGPT can summarise emails, draft responses, schedule meetings, and create actionable to-do lists.

AI boosts our decision-making, providing valuable insights that help us make quick, informed choices. For example, AI-driven analytics platforms like Tableau or Power BI help us spot trends in data, predict needs, or manage risks by analysing historical data and visualising it in a way that is easy to understand. This means we can be more proactive and think ahead.

AI also makes our lives easier by handling routine tasks like managing our inboxes with tools like SaneBox, which filters out unimportant emails, or Boomerang, which helps schedule emails to send at the perfect time. These tools use AI to learn from our email habits, further improving their efficiency over time.

Additionally, Perplexity AI, an AI-powered answer engine, provides accurate, real-time answers to complex questions, aiding in research and information discovery. With just a few clicks, these tools allow us to focus on our team’s needs and, as key liaisons, provide better support and build stronger relationships.

However, embracing AI does come with its challenges. There’s still a lot to learn, and it can sometimes feel overwhelming. Getting used to AI-based platforms and applications can be tricky at first, but keep trying and let’s not forget—our human touch is what adds that crucial final layer to everything AI helps us achieve.

So, here’s what I say: don’t wait for change—embrace it. Get involved, stay curious, and remember, the world doesn’t stand still, and neither should you. The possibilities are endless!

While I’ve mentioned various examples, there are countless more platforms to explore.

Let’s keep talking about AI.
