I recently had the incredible opportunity to attend the "Anything is Possible" event courtesy of the Lily Shippen team, following my participation in their innovative mentoring programme (earlier this year). The event held was held at the Old Trafford Cricket Club last month and was a beacon of inspiration and empowerment, bringing together over 450 guests eager to glean insights from a line-up of exceptional speakers.
From the moment I stepped into the venue, the atmosphere buzzed with positivity and anticipation. Meeting Lily Shippen (founder of Lily Shippen Recruitment), and the National Recruitment Manager, Matt Gregson (in person) was a real highlight. Their sincere enthusiasm and genuine warmth created a welcoming atmosphere for the day ahead.
The event featured a diverse range of speakers including Sian Lord, Sophie Louise Hughes, and Joe Thompson to name a few. Each sharing their personal journeys of overcoming challenges to achieve success. From resilience to perseverance, their stories resonated deeply, reminding us that with the right mindset and determination, 'anything' truly is possible.
One key takeaway for me was the importance of values, both personally and professionally. The speakers emphasised how values serve as guiding principles, shaping our decisions and actions. Building good habits, taking time for self-reflection, and embracing our differences were also highlighted as essential components of personal and professional growth.
I was particularly inspired by the emphasis on empowerment and networking (throughout the day), and I believe that the Lily Shippen team's commitment to empowering EAs and PAs across the country through their mentoring programme is commendable. As with the “Anything is Possible” event, Lily and her team are opening a dialogue to allow us to share our experiences and build connections, allowing us to uplift and support one another on our respective journeys. They go beyond being 'just' Recruiters.
The "Anything is Possible" event was not just a gathering; it was a celebration of resilience, empowerment, and the limitless potential within each of us. As I reflect on the insights gained and the connections made, I am reminded that indeed, anything is possible when we dare to believe in ourselves, and support one another along the way.
In my conversation with Matt Gregson, I gained valuable insights into the inner workings of Lily Shippen Recruitment. His dedication to understanding the needs of both candidates and organisations underscored the agency's commitment to excellence, and meeting Lily and Matt reaffirmed my belief in the power of genuine, caring relationships in the business world.
I am deeply appreciative of the opportunity extended to me by the Lily Shippen team, and I want to express my gratitude for their steadfast support throughout the mentoring programme.
A special thanks goes out to Emily Mills, whose role as Head of Initiatives and Growth embodies her dedication to fostering professional development. Through her leadership, she has established an exceptional platform with the mentoring program, which has united talent within the Executive support realm, facilitating meaningful conversations and bolstering expertise in this field.
Earlier this week, Emily organised for the participants of their Spring Mentoring programme to graduate with special guest Bonnie Low-Kramen. Bonnie Low-Kramen is a renowned author, speaker, and advocate for the administrative profession. With over 25 years of experience as a high-profile assistant, Bonnie took the time to share how all assistants should be empowered to recognise their value, advocate for themselves, and strive for excellence in their careers. An aspirational end to a truly remarkable programme, with taught me (as a Mentor) so much!
As I continue to progress and evolve, I am eagerly looking forward to paying it forward by empowering others within the EA and PA community. I am committed to contributing to the growth and success of aspiring professionals, and I am enthusiastic about the opportunity of being able to participate in the Lily Shippen Mentoring programme in the future.
A huge thanks, to Emily, Lily, and Matt I can’t wait to see the success of The Lily Shippen Mentoring Programme!
If you are considering joining it, 'just do it'.
